SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ACTIVITY

AESM carries out an extensive research work in various fields of economics. Thus, research teams may be either organized within a certain chair or conduct their activity in mixed teams. At present, the scientific community of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova entails 446 titular teaching staff, whereof 32 Doctors Habilitatum and over 250 Doctors of Science.

The scientific activity within AESM is directed by the Vice-Rector for Scientific Research and Foreign Relations, Ph.D. researcher Corneliu Gutu.

There are 28 scientific student communities with 900 members. Annually the International Scientific Symposium of Young Researchers is organized within AESM.

The Center for Scientific Research, founded in 2002, represents the engine in the process of organizing and supervising scientific research. The center promotes fundamental and applied types of research in economics emphasizing the interdisciplinary approach of phenomena and processes in the national economy under theoretical and practical procedures at national, European and world levels. The center has 10 research laboratories, financed by state and international grants.

The center’s activity focuses on developing national and international scientific projects and building partnerships with academic centers from other countries. The center stimulates participation of AESM teaching staff at national and international research programs and encourages involvement of bachelor, master and  PhD students in scientific research. The Centre aims at bridging academic and business environments in order to involve research teams in economic counseling and attract various European funds in education and transboundary economic cooperation.

Since 2010 the center has been participating as a national partner of the prestigious institution – the World Economic Forum (Switzerland)-at numerous studies designed to evaluate global competitiveness, development of information industries and technologies, foreign trade and tourism acknowledged worldwide.

In recent years, the following national research projects have been developed at the Academy of Economic Studies: domains and ways to ensure and develop competitiveness; investment risk research in the real sector of economy; elaboration of regional development models by forming clusters; creating a gateway to promote e-business in Moldova; the issues of international and regional economic cooperation in the context of European integration and competitive advantage; economic growth and structural priorities: theoretical and practical issues; development of actuarial methods and techniques appropriate to Moldova in the context of European integration strategies.

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH AND CONSULTING AT AESM

In recent years, the following national research projects have been developed at the Academy of Economic Studies: domains and ways to ensure and develop competitiveness; investment risk research in the real sector of economy; elaboration of regional development models by forming clusters; creating a gateway to promote e-business in Moldova; the issues of international and regional economic cooperation in the context of European integration and competitive advantage; economic growth and structural priorities: theoretical and practical issues; development of actuarial methods and techniques appropriate to Moldova in the context of European integration strategies.

As of 2010, the Academy of Economic Studies is the coordinator of the State Program „The development of competitiveness and sustainable growth of the economy based on knowledge, development and regional- European integration” (scientific advisor: Corresponding  member of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Professor, Doctor Habilitatum Grigore Belostecinic).

Published at AESM

Another objective is to generate economic knowledge disseminated both through publications and national and international conferences, thus expanding national scientific research worldwide.

During 1993-2011, more than 20 international scientific conferences and symposia were held annually, whose theses and papers were published. Nine issues of „The Scientific Annals of AESM” and materials of the scientific conferences were published.
