Extensive development of an integral information community, the evolving competition and the increasing role of efficient management decisions on economic activities call for highly-qualified professionals in economic informatics, statistics and cybernetics. The knowledge and skills acquired can be used in analyzing complex economic processes by applying methods of mathematical economics. Another major attribute is the graduates’ proficiency in modern economic information technologies. Hence, the graduates of the faculty are highly-demanded on the labour market both as computer operators and economists.

The Faculty of Economic Cybernetics, Statistics and Informatics was established in 1992. It is organized into four chairs: Economic Cybernetics and Informatics, Economic Statistics and Forecasting, Mathematics and the Basics of Economic Informatics with 69 academic teachers, whereof 5 Doctors Habillitatum and 34 Doctors of Science. More than 50% of the disciplines use teaching aid published by the faculty teachers.

Mutually advantageous cooperation is built with counterpart faculties and chairs of Amherst University, Massachusetts (USA), Paris-Dauphine University, Paris and Nantes University (France), Bochum University (Germany), AES, Bucharest, A.I.Cuza University, Iasi, Babes-Bolyai University, Cluj-Napoca (Romania), the Ukraine, Russia, and Bulgaria.

The chair of Economic Statistics and Forecasting was established in 1994. It trains qualified specialists in Economic Statistics and provides statistics-related courses to all other AESM students. The syllabus includes a set of new disciplines as “Opinion Polls : Theory and Practice”, “The National Account System”, “Econometrics”, “Economic Forecasting”, “Financial and Banking Statistics” etc.

The chair of Mathematics ensures professional teaching of mathematics-related disciplines to all AESM students. The chair organizes annually Olympiads in Applied Mathematics for AESM students.

The chair of Economic Cybernetics and Informatics was founded in 1965 within the Polytechnic Institute, Chisinau. It trains specialists in Informatics and Economic Cybernetics, and Informatics as well as provides related disciplines to students of other AESM faculties who learn to apply mathematical methods in economics and economic informatics. The chair ensures training in such disciplines as Advanced Programming Languages, Data Bases, Economic Cybernetics, .Net Platform, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Networks, Web Programmes, E-Business, Computer Projection Systems etc.
The chair of Basics of Economic Informatics provides general informatics - related courses to all AESM students.

Students in Economic Cybernetics and Informatics are trained as economic analysts to manage and make decisions in the socio-economic life by employing modern information technologies. It enables students to qualify for management positions in business informatics and informatization of economic entities.

Students in Statistics will be qualified for jobs in the information field including analysis of economic information, elaboration of economic forecasts and undertaking of opinion polls. In a market economy, the economic information analysis is required in all the branches of the economy. This further leads to the consolidation of decisions and the elaboration of economic forecasts.
