The objective of the faculty of Finance is to train highly-qualified professionals with valuable knowledge and skills to be applied in the financial system and the national economy. Apart from its prestige within an institution of higher economic education that has been sustained by many generations of teachers and students, this faculty aims to provide professionals for the field of Public Finance, Corporate Financial Management, Banking Management, Investments, Capital Markets, Insurance and Taxation. Core disciplines are taught in Romanian, English and Russian.

In the process of convergence to the European Higher Education Area standards and adherence of the Republic of Moldova to the Bologna Process, this faculty offers Bachelor degree programmes in Finance and Banking.

The professional training in Finance and Banking, cycle I, Bachelor degree, aims at providing theoretical knowledge and practical skills applied in finance and banking management decision-making, developing skills required to plan the financial activity and efficiently manage the financial resources at micro-, macro-and mezo-economic levels. The syllabus focuses on the understanding of the Normative Acts, and the legislation in force, acquisition of computer skills, statistical, financial and accounting data processing, and proficiency in business foreign languages.

The faculty is organized into 5 chairs.

Banks and Stock Exchanges. The chair carries out teaching and scientific research activity in the field of finance and current banking operations as well as risk management, banking and foreign currency performances.

Investments and Capital Markets. The main objective of the chair is to provide undergraduate and postgraduate education in the field of investments, national and international capital markets. The teaching staff is actively involved in delivering lectures, seminars and conducting scientific research in the field of investments and capital markets.

Finance and Insurance. The activity of the chair focuses on two distinct domains:
• educational - to train highly qualified professionals in Public Finance, Taxation; Corporate Finance and Insurance, who would comply with the modern system of higher education.
• scientific – to research the role of financial policies in the economic development of the country; financial instruments to implement the strategy of development and economic growth in the Republic of Moldova; financial prerequisites for the Republic of Moldova to join the European Union.

Applied Foreign Languages. The activity of the chair aims at developing oral and written business communication skills, defining economic terms and concepts, acquiring techniques in drafting business letters (circulars, inquiries, offers, orders, complaints, etc.).

Philosophy and Political Science.
The chair carries out teaching and scientific research activity in the field of philosophy and political science. The emphasis is placed on students’ understanding of the development of philosophical and political beliefs of the humanity. They also underline current philosophical, economic and political issues, and the development of postmodern society, contributing thus to a philosophical, economic and political culture of a modern society. The chair provides rele-vant training courses to all stu-dents of the Academy of Economic Studies.
