POSTGRADUATE EDUCATION : MASTER DEGREE PROGRAMMES

At present, the Academy of Economic Studies is authorized to provide specialized Master’s degree programmes in “Economics” in the following fields and areas of specialization:

The objectives of the AESM Master Programmes are to:

- develop highly qualified and competitive professionals in business, finance and banking, accounting and economic informational technologies;

- qualify the graduates to meet the requirements of the modern market economy;

- develop skills to manage the continuous flow of professional management information.

The Master Programme Development:

* Students may pursue full-time specialized Master degree programmes, financed from the state budget or against tuition fees.

* The course of study for holders of undergraduate degrees in Economics is a full calendar year, beginning on 1st October, and one year and a half for holders of undergraduate degrees in unrelated fields.

* Intensive training is provided on a module and credit transfer assessment basis.

* Upon completion of the specialized Master degree programme, graduates are awarded a Master’s degree and a title of Master of Science in Economics in a specific area of specialization.

* The theoretical and applied studies integrate into scientific research.

* Master programme graduates may pursue careers in higher education and scientific research institutions, organizations and institutions in various branches of the national economy, large national and multinational companies. They can further apply for a Doctorate degree programme in the respective area of specialization.

The Bologna Declaration stipulates that beginning with 2008, Master degree programmes will be considered cycle II of higher economic education, lasting 3 years and equal to 120 transfer credits.
