MOLDO-AMERICAN CENTRE FOR PRIVATE INITIATIVE

The Moldo-American Centre for Private Initiative (MACPI) is one of the oldest subdivisions of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, founded in September 1993 with the financial support of The Eurasia Foundation (USA). It was established following the collaboration agreement between AESM and the University of Nebraska, Omaha (USA).

MACPI aims at providing business management assistance and offering consulting services to private business owners in a competitive market environment.

The MACPI main objectives are as follows:
- bolster new profitable business ventures;
- enhance efficiency of existing businesses;
- promote private business interests;
- provide private consulting services and organize seminars as well as management, marketing, finance training courses;
- facilitate entrepreneurs access to economic information;
- foster cooperation with other national and international organizations;
- promote corporate and private business owners’ goodwill.

MACPI offers training and consulting courses in General Management and Marketing; Financial Management; Accounting; Business Law, and Informatics.

In 1995, MACPI created the first national Entrepreneurial Support Network with Small Business Support Centres located in municipalities Chișinău, Bălți, Soroca, Cahul, Rîbnița, Ungheni.The regional centres enabled business owners and managers from the Republic of Moldova to benefit from a larger variety of services.

MACPI is a member of the Association of Small Business Development Centres (USA) and maintains close relations of cooperation with counterpart centres from the USA, Romania, and Russia, with the Peace Corps (USA), the Independent Press Association, the Soros and Eurasia Foundations etc.

MACPI greatly contributes to further development of national and regional associations of small business.
